Compliance & safety

Careful people, clear protocols, honest limits

Safety is an operating practice, not a slogan. Here is how we screen, train, and communicate — and what we will not claim.

Safety practices

Driver screening

Comprehensive background checks, driving-record reviews, license verification, drug screening, and CPR/First Aid certification before a driver carries passengers.

Assistance training

PASS certified wheelchair assistance training, respectful transfer protocols, and clear guidance on when to stop and call for help.

Vehicle standards

Clean, well-maintained, insured vehicles with documented inspection and maintenance expectations.

Compliance and credentials

Credentials we have completed

We publish only what is verified and documented. As additional certifications, licenses and insurance credentials are obtained, they are added here.

CPR and First Aid certified drivers

Every driver holds current CPR and First Aid certification before transporting a passenger.

PASS certified wheelchair assistance

Drivers assigned to wheelchair-accessible transportation are PASS certified in passenger assistance, safety and securement.

Background-checked drivers

Criminal background screening and driving-record review are completed before hire.

Drug screening

Pre-employment drug screening is required of every driver and courier.

Commercially insured vehicles

Vehicles carry commercial auto liability coverage and are inspected and maintained on a documented schedule.

HIPAA-conscious handling

Staff are trained to collect only the information a trip requires and to handle passenger and healthcare information with care.

Orbit Relay does not advertise certifications, licenses or handling capabilities it has not completed. If a contract requires a credential we do not yet hold, we will say so.

Courier handling

Standards for medical courier work

  • Named pickup and delivery contacts agreed before a route starts
  • Chain-of-custody recorded for each pickup and drop-off
  • Sealed, client-supplied packaging transported as provided
  • Defined delivery windows with proactive notice on exceptions
  • Background-checked, drug-screened couriers
  • Materials transported only within the categories in a written service scope

Accessibility commitments

No app required

Book by email or contact form with a live coordinator. A smartphone is never required to use our service.

Clear communication

Plain-language confirmations, patient pacing on calls, and updates to the contact of the passenger's choosing.

Wheelchair access

Wheelchair-accessible transportation is an active service. Request these trips in advance so we can confirm the right vehicle, wheelchair dimensions, securement needs, and passenger assistance.

  • Assistance level confirmed before every trip is accepted
  • Escort and companion policies explained at booking
  • Support for service animals and mobility aids where safely accommodated
  • Language support arranged when requested in advance
  • Website built for keyboard navigation, contrast, and large text
  • Feedback channel for accessibility barriers you encounter

What we are not

Orbit Relay is not an ambulance service. We do not provide emergency response, clinical care, gurney, stretcher, litter, or advanced medical transportation. If someone needs urgent medical attention, call 911.
